Jermaine "Maintain" Edmondson: Entrepreneur and Founder of Organic Music
Born on December 18, 1975, in Canton, Ohio, the birthplace of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Jermaine "Maintain" Edmondson is a dynamic entrepreneur and the visionary behind Organic Music, an independent record label based in Orlando, Florida. The youngest of three boys raised by a single mother, Karen Edmondson, Jermaine grew up in the Jackson Sherrick projects in the southeast section of Canton, facing challenges that shaped his resilient character.
Jermaine's journey into the world of music began early, with a passion for writing poetry that eventually evolved into crafting rhymes. After high school, he joined a local rap group called D.A.B (Down As Brothas), performing under the stage name “ManiAK Insane.” Realizing the tough nature of the music industry, Jermaine founded Many Ways Entertainment, focusing on promoting live events, comedy shows, and hosting after-hours parties.
In 2004, a significant turning point came when a close friend, Jason Cox, introduced Jermaine to Alfred “Fameus” Gatlin, a talented singer newly arrived from Atlanta. This collaboration boosted Many Ways Entertainment's popularity across Ohio, leading to performances at the World Famous Apollo Theater, where Fameus even secured a win. Despite their efforts, securing a record deal proved elusive, and eventually, the venture dissolved.
Jermaine then channeled his energy into sports, becoming a certified personal trainer specializing in position-specific performance training. He began by training his son, Jermaine Edmondson Jr., who earned a football scholarship to Michigan State University. Inspired by this success, Jermaine started coaching youth football, achieving three consecutive championship wins and establishing a reputation as a dedicated mentor and trainer.
Expanding his influence, Jermaine co-founded the non-profit Canton Ohio Sports Association (COSA) to support youth athletes.
In Orlando, Jermaine continued his work in youth sports but felt a renewed pull towards the music industry. Recognizing the transformative power of social media, he launched Organic Music LLC in 2022, aiming to support unsigned artists with quality production and promotion. His first project brought him back to his roots, collaborating once again with Fameus. Their debut EP, "Phases," is set for release on June 18, 2024, promising to deliver the authentic R&B sound that Jermaine believes the world is missing.
